Air Canada has unveiled an exciting addition to its growing list of international destinations: Vancouver to Manila flights will officially begin on April 2, 2025.

This Air Canada VancouverManila route is a game-changer for travelers. It provides convenient, year-round access between Canada and the Philippines, two countries connected by deep cultural and familial ties.

The announcement was made on December 5, 2024, during the Team Canada Trade Mission in the Philippines, celebrating 75 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

Mark Galardo, Air Canada’s Executive Vice-President for revenue and network planning, shared his enthusiasm for the Air Canada flight launch in 2024, stating, “We are thrilled to add Manila to our global network with new, year-round, non-stop service from Vancouver, Air Canada’s Pacific gateway hub. We continue to pursue our international network strategy of expanding to large, fast-growing markets that are presently unserved directly by Air Canada.”

A Strategic Move in Air Canada International Routes

The Air Canada Vancouver–Manila route reflects the airline’s ongoing strategy to target high-demand markets and strengthen its foothold in Asia-Pacific. With the launch of these direct flights from Vancouver to Manila, Air Canada is cementing its status as a leader in transpacific travel.

This new route is part of Air Canada’s broader expansion into Southeast Asia, following the recent introduction of flights to Singapore and Bangkok.

The airline is leveraging Vancouver’s strategic geographic position as the closest major North American city to Asia, with over 180 weekly transpacific flights planned by the summer of 2025.

The airline will operate Vancouver-to-Manila flights four times weekly on its state-of-the-art Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, which offers three cabin classes: lie-flat seats in business class, premium economy, and economy.

These 14-hour Vancouver–Manila direct flights provide seamless connections for travelers through Air Canada’s extensive domestic and transborder networks.

Tamara Vrooman, President and CEO of Vancouver International Airport, highlighted the economic impact of this Air Canada flight launch in 2024, noting that the 14-hour nonstop flight would generate $46 million in economic value as this will spur travel and tourism.

A Significant Addition to Air Canada Routes

This new service is significant because it connects two vibrant cities and fills a gap in Air Canada’s international routes. The Philippines represents the largest Asian market currently unserved by a Canadian carrier.

Galardo explained, “The Philippines is an important market reflecting long-standing family ties between our two countries with growing business connections and tourism opportunities.”

Statistics support this connection: over 950,000 people of Filipino origin reside in Canada, many of whom live in Vancouver, Ontario, Alberta, Montreal, and Calgary. The new route provides a much-needed link between communities, facilitating easier travel for family reunions, business trips, and tourism.

With the Air Canada Vancouver–Manila route, travelers can look forward to a seamless journey that highlights Air Canada’s commitment to expanding its global network. Whether you’re planning a vacation, a business trip, or a visit to loved ones, these new Vancouver to Manila flights make travel between Canada and the Philippines more accessible than ever.
