Travel options to certain West Coast destinations have often been limited and inconvenient. Now, travelers can explore the region more easily with new airline routes.
Alaska Airlines has announced the return of one of its most sought-after cross-country routes between Portland, Oregon, and Atlanta, Georgia.
The daily service, which was last operated six years ago, is part of a broader expansion in the airline’s network.
This route will be served by a Boeing 737-900, which will offer passengers a comfortable, long-haul travel experience.

The airline also introduced new West Coast flight offerings, connecting Las Vegas to Santa Rosa (Sonoma County) and San Diego, solidifying Alaska’s presence as a leading carrier in the region.
Alaska Airlines continues to innovate and respond to high demand with more nonstop options to key destinations, appealing to business travelers and those seeking autumn getaways.
As Alaska Airlines shared in a press release, “Travel demand continues to be strong, and we are excited to provide our guests with more options for their next business trip or autumn getaway,” said Kirsten Amrine, Vice President of Revenue Management and Network Planning.
Alaska Airlines Strengthens Presence, Offers West Coast Travel Deals
The recent Alaska Airlines route announcements highlight the airline’s expanding dominance at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
The airline now offers more daily flights to West Coast destinations than any other carrier at LAX. This includes twice-daily flights to Reno, Nevada, and a new daily flight to Pasco, Washington.
All routes, except for Portland to Atlanta, will operate on the Embraer 175 aircraft, known for its spacious configuration with no middle seats.

As a bonus for passengers flying to Sonoma County, Alaska Airlines offers its clever Wine Flies Free program. This initiative allows members of the airline’s Mileage Plan frequent flyer program to check up to 12 bottles of wine at no additional cost — a popular perk for those heading to wine country.
“We’re expanding our presence in California and adding new coast-to-coast service sure to delight our guests in the Northwest,” the airline stated in its press release.
With these West Coast travel deals and enhanced connections, Alaska Airlines travel news continues to capture the attention of frequent travelers.
