Cathay Pacific Airways has announced the launch of a nonstop flight from Dallas to Hong Kong starting next spring, marking an exciting development in the airline’s North American operations.
Commencing on April 24, 2025, the Cathay Pacific Dallas route will operate four weekly flights on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, using the modern Airbus A350-1000 aircraft. This service will span nearly 17 hours, making Cathay Pacific’s longest flight in its extensive network. Mentioning this Dallas–Hong Kong flight in 2024 emphasizes Cathay Pacific’s commitment to growth in North America following the challenges of the pandemic.
Chris van den Hooven, Cathay Pacific’s senior vice-president of the Americas, described the new Dallas to Hong Kong direct flight as a “major milestone” for the airline. He noted the significance of this route in enhancing connectivity between Hong Kong and one of the world’s busiest airports, which serves as a vital hub for American Airlines, a member of the Oneworld alliance alongside Cathay Pacific.
Expanding Network and Affordable Travel Options
American Airlines previously operated flights between Hong Kong and Dallas but suspended service during the pandemic, ultimately discontinuing it in late 2021 due to the slow reopening of Asian borders. The new Cathay Pacific nonstop flight from Dallas to Hong Kong will give travelers easy access to the city’s renowned attractions, including its world-famous dim sum and high tea experiences at the Peninsula Hotel overlooking Victoria Harbour.
The addition of this service is part of Cathay Pacific new routes in North America. Alongside the Dallas service, the airline will increase flights to major cities such as Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco by next summer. Each of these cities will have at least daily service to Hong Kong, with New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles benefiting from three flights per day.
Cathay Pacific aims for 108 weekly return flights to North America by May 2025, including the new Dallas-Hong Kong flight. This significant increase reflects the airline’s recovery from the pandemic and its intent to reinforce Hong Kong as a leading international aviation hub.
Additionally, with the introduction of competitive pricing, travelers can look forward to potentially finding cheap flights to Hong Kong, making this destination even more accessible.
A New Era of Travel
As travel continues to rebound post-pandemic, Cathay Pacific’s new nonstop flight from Dallas to Hong Kong is expected to foster increased connectivity and support economic ties between the two regions. The airline has long been an important player in the North American market, launching its service to Vancouver in 1983.
