Travelers from the Mountain West might soon find Asia closer than ever, with a new direct connection set to enhance their global travel options.

In a significant move to bolster its international presence, Delta Air Lines has announced a new route from Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) to Seoul-Incheon International Airport (ICN), marking the airline’s first-ever nonstop service between these two cities.

The Delta Seoul route announcement signals another step in expanding connections between the U.S. and Asia. The inaugural flight is scheduled for June 12, 2025, with tickets already on sale as of September 28, 2024.

A New Milestone for Delta’s Global Network

The new Delta service to South Korea represents a vital gateway for travelers in the Mountain West and Southwest U.S. regions, offering seamless connectivity to key destinations throughout Asia.

Delta’s Senior Vice President of Network Planning, Joe Esposito, remarked on the launch’s significance, stating that it “ensures virtually all U.S. demand is connected to Seoul via nonstop or one-stop service.”

This new Delta flight to Seoul service joins the airline’s existing trans-Pacific routes from other major hubs like Atlanta, Detroit, Minneapolis-St. Paul, and Seattle. Salt Lake City is the fifth U.S. gateway to Seoul under Delta’s operations.

Delta’s Strong Presence in Salt Lake City

Salt Lake City has long been a vital hub for Delta, where the airline operates nearly 250 peak-day departures, providing connectivity to over 90 destinations.

With flights from the U.S. to Seoul now included in this robust network, Salt Lake City travelers will have access to international destinations like Amsterdam, Paris, London, and Mexico City in addition to the new Asian gateway.

Utah Governor Spencer J. Cox celebrated the U.S. hub to South Korea route, emphasizing its potential to expand cultural and business ties between Utah and South Korea. “As we open this new gateway to Asia, I am excited to expand Utah’s global reach and foster new partnerships,” Governor Cox said.
