Budget airline Allegiant Air is significantly expanding its Florida footprint in 2026, adding 11 new flights to Florida as part of its largest network expansion to date.

The ultra-low-cost carrier will launch service to Fort Lauderdale, Punta Gorda, St. Pete-Clearwater, Orlando Sanford, and Destin-Fort Walton Beach between February and June 2026, with introductory one-way fares starting at $49.

New Routes Take Flight in Three Phases

The Allegiant Air expansion in 2026 kicks off February 12 to 20 with eight routes, including three from New Jersey’s Trenton-Mercer Airport. Trenton travelers will gain access to Fort Lauderdale beginning February 19, followed by Punta Gorda and St. Pete-Clearwater on February 20, all with fares starting at $49.

Fort Lauderdale gains three new Northeast connections in mid-February, linking Florida’s Gold Coast with Chicago’s Rockford, Rochester, and Albany. Additional Allegiant Air Florida routes launch in late May and early June, including two Missouri departures—Columbia to Orlando Sanford and Destin.

Strategic Expansion Into Underserved Markets

“We’re thrilled to continue Allegiant’s growth by adding these new routes,” said Drew Wells, Allegiant’s chief commercial officer. “Our mission has always been to connect travelers to world-class destinations at an affordable price”.

The airline’s strategy focuses on connecting smaller cities directly to leisure destinations, bypassing traditional hub airports. This approach particularly benefits travelers in markets like Columbia, Missouri, where Orlando ranks as the top destination, with five Florida markets appearing in the top 15 most-desired travel spots.

For Trenton-Mercer Airport, these routes mark a comeback story. Allegiant previously served the airport before ending service in 2018 due to insufficient demand. The return signals renewed confidence in the New Jersey market.

Florida’s 11 new routes represent roughly one-third of the Allegiant flights announced in November 2025. The airline is adding service to 35 cities nationwide, including four entirely new markets, positioning itself to capture increased leisure travel demand.

The timing of these new Allegiant flights targets winter travelers seeking Florida’s warm weather and spring breakers heading to the state’s beaches and theme parks. Routes also serve convention travelers, particularly to Orlando, and residents with vacation homes in Southwest Florida communities.

Booking Information

Tickets are available now on Allegiant’s website, with the carrier’s Allways Rewards program accepting points for bookings. Promotional fares must be purchased by November 19, 2025, for travel through August 18, 2026, though availability and dates are limited.

The expansion strengthens Florida’s position as a top domestic leisure destination while providing budget-conscious travelers with more affordable, nonstop options from secondary airports across the country.
