The popular American low-cost airline JetBlue Airways has announced its decision to implement major route changes in 2025. These service cuts will affect flights serving Florida, New York, Texas, and London, among others. A JetBlue official confirmed the news on December 9, 2024.

Major JetBlue Route Changes in 2025

JetBlue is axing what it has termed “underperforming” routes and redistributing resources to high-demand markets and new opportunities. The JetBlue discontinued routes will include all flights to and from San Jose, California. They’re also cutting connections between:

  • New York and Houston
  • New York and Austin
  • New York and Miami
  • New York and Milwaukee

These airline route reductions will start by April 30, 2025. The airline will also stop its seasonal flights between New York and London Gatwick. However, flights to London’s Heathrow Airport will continue throughout 2025.

Impact on Seasonal Routes and Premium Services

The JetBlue flight updates affect several other routes, too. Previous seasonal routes from New York to Austin, Houston, and Milwaukee will end completely. Other routes will become winter-only services, including:

  • Boston to Phoenix
  • Boston to Grenada
  • New York to Tulum

More changes are coming to other services. The New York to Paris route will lose its second daily summer flight. Seattle flights will no longer offer the premium Mint service.

“Recently, we made some network adjustments in certain markets, removing some underperforming flying from our schedule, allowing us to redeploy resources, including our popular Mint service, toward high-demand markets and new opportunities,” a JetBlue official explained.

The news comes at a positive time for JetBlue. Recent company reports show higher revenue and bookings than expected for November and December. This success came despite a $60 million loss in the third quarter.

JetBlue is soon expected to announce specifics regarding how they will redeploy this capacity, which is anticipated to include an expanded European network.
