Ski enthusiasts from the Southeast will soon have a direct path to Colorado’s powder-covered peaks. American Airlines announced the restoration of the Charlotte to Eagle County nonstop flight between Charlotte Douglas International Airport and Eagle County Regional Airport.
The daily seasonal flights launch December 18 and run through January 5. This marks the return of a route that disappeared in March 2008 when U.S. Airways discontinued the service.
American Airlines Colorado Ski Route Offers Premium Service
American will operate the route using an Airbus A319. The service connects one of the Southeast’s busiest airports with the gateway to Colorado’s ski country.
Average round-trip fares cost $1,088, reflecting the route’s luxury positioning. This American Airlines Colorado ski route leverages the airline’s dominant market positions. American holds 78% market share in Charlotte and 54% in Eagle County.

Flights to Colorado Ski Resorts in 2025 See Increased Demand
The route’s return comes as airlines recognize growing demand for flights to Colorado ski resorts in 2025. United Airlines recently launched new service from Washington Dulles to Eagle County, intensifying competition.
Aviation data from Cirium Diio shows the route now generates nine passengers per day traveling in each direction. This is up 50% from just six passengers per day in 2024, indicating growing demand.
American’s broader Colorado strategy includes seasonal Eagle County airport ski season flights from Dallas/Fort Worth, Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles, Phoenix, and New York. The restored route enhances global connectivity, with passengers from more than 350 cities worldwide now able to reach Eagle County with just one connection through Charlotte.
