The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Philippines has announced a significant policy shift that will make South Korea travel for Filipino tourists considerably more accessible throughout 2026. The simplified visa application process, set to run for the entire calendar year, eliminates burdensome financial documentation requirements for qualified applicants.

What’s New in 2026

Beginning January 1, 2026, Filipino travelers with premium credit cards will no longer need to submit traditional financial proof documents when applying for a South Korean tourist visa. The initiative eliminates the need for Bank Certificates, Bank Statements, and Income Tax Returns (ITR) for holders of select Gold or Elite credit cards from participating banks.

Who Qualifies

Primary Gold or Elite cardholders from participating banks are eligible for the simplified process; however, supplementary cardholders are not entitled to the same exemption. The policy extends beyond individual cardholders—immediate family members, including parents, spouses, and children (both minors and adult students), can also benefit from the streamlined application process.

Eligible Banks:

  • BDO
  • BPI
  • RCBC
  • Metrobank
  • PNB

While financial documents are waived, applicants must still provide standard visa requirements, including a valid passport, completed application forms, recent photographs, and proof of travel arrangements.

Additionally, credit cardholders must submit their credit card details and recent statements. Family members applying alongside the primary cardholder need to include relationship documentation, such as birth certificates or marriage certificates.

Boosting South Korea Tourism in 2026

South Korea remains one of the most popular travel destinations for Filipinos, driven by K-drama popularity, rich cultural experiences, picturesque landscapes, and a dynamic food scene.

By reducing bureaucratic hurdles, the Embassy aims to facilitate tourism and strengthen cultural exchange between the two nations throughout the 12 months.

The timing is ideal for Filipinos dreaming of experiencing Seoul’s vibrant neighborhoods, witnessing spring cherry blossoms, or exploring Korea’s historic sites. With less paperwork standing in the way, planning that Korean adventure has become considerably simpler.
