In a significant move for European aviation, Swiss Airways has announced extending its long-standing partnership with Helvetic Airways for another five years.

Under the Swiss Helvetic extended agreement, Helvetic Airways will continue to operate up to 15 aircraft on behalf of Swiss Airways, ensuring that the national carrier can efficiently serve its short- and medium-haul routes across Europe.

This Swiss and Helvetic Airways collaboration will involve using Helvetic Airways’ carbon-efficient Embraer E190-E2 and E195-E2 aircraft, as well as their predecessor models, the E190 and E195.

Heike Birlenbach, Chief Commercial Officer of Swiss Airways, expressed her satisfaction with the Swiss Helvetic partnership extension, stating, “Helvetic fully meets Swiss’s safety and premium standards. Passengers give our partner a good report. I am delighted that we can extend our successful partnership.”

Expanding Fleet for Improved Travel Experience

As part of this Swiss and Helvetic Airways partnership, Helvetic Airways will lease its aircraft, complete with crew, to Swiss Airways. This will enable the airline to meet demand during peak periods and fly to smaller destinations where the national carrier’s larger planes would be less efficient.

In the 2024/25 winter flight schedule, Helvetic Airways will operate up to nine aircraft, while up to 15 aircraft are planned for the more travel-intensive 2025 summer schedule.

Tobias Pogorevc, CEO of Helvetic Airways, noted, “We are proud that the partnership between Swiss Airways and Helvetic, which has existed since 2007, is being expanded and extended. This confirms that Helvetic Airways meets the high standards in terms of quality and reliability.”

A Proven and Evolving Collaboration

The Swiss and Helvetic Airways collaboration began in 2007 and has grown into a key operational partnership.

The Swiss Airways extended agreement highlights the efficiency and safety standards that Helvetic Airways consistently delivers and showcases their modern fleet of fuel-efficient aircraft.

Founded in 2003, Helvetic Airways operates 22 Embraer regional jets and serves 11 routes across six countries under its branding.

The continued Helvetic Airways five-year partnership allows both airlines to strengthen their positions in the competitive European aviation market while providing passengers with enhanced travel options and greater connectivity.

This Swiss Helvetic partnership extension is a testament to Helvetic Airways’ reliability and flexibility, further enhancing Swiss Airways’ ability to serve its customers with premium experiences.
