Turkish Airlines’ Misrata flights have resumed after ten years. The air link was previously suspended in January 2015 due to unrest. The move marks a major boost for Misrata, Libya air connectivity, and Türkiye’s role as a bridge to North Africa.
Strengthening Libya’s Air Connections
Turkish Airlines relaunched its Libya route on September 2, 2025. Flights operate three times a week — on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Promotional fares start at $349 one-way from Istanbul and $249 from Misrata. The offer is valid until November 30 for tickets purchased by September 9.
This connection adds Misrata to Turkish Airlines’ existing network in Libya, which already includes Tripoli and Benghazi. Together, these routes expand Libya’s international flights and create new travel opportunities.

Turkish Airlines Flight Resumption Welcomed
Libya’s Transport Minister Muhammad Al-Shahoubi praised the return of Turkish Airlines. He called it a clear sign of Türkiye’s support for Libya.
Turkish Airlines Sales President Mahmut Yayla stressed the importance of the Turkish Airlines flight resumption. “As Turkish Airlines, we are glad to once again fulfill our mission of connecting continents, this time in Misrata, Libya’s third-largest city, with which we share deep historical ties,” he noted. The airline now operates 18 weekly flights to Libya, with expansion plans.
The renewed flights are expected to support Misrata’s business and tourism growth. The city is a key hub for trade and investment. Restored air service will also make it easier for travelers to connect through Istanbul to destinations worldwide. The flight resumption not only restores a vital route but also strengthens economic and cultural links between the two nations.
