Vietnam Airlines has launched a new route connecting Hanoi to Jakarta, further strengthening air connectivity between Vietnam and Indonesia. The announcement was made during the ASTINDO Travel Fair 2025, one of Indonesia’s largest travel industry events.

Expanding Southeast Asian Connectivity

The new service marks a significant step in the airline’s strategy to expand its international network across Southeast Asia. The route is expected to boost tourism, business travel, and cultural exchange between the two nations by linking the capitals of Vietnam and Indonesia.

“ASTINDO Travel Fair is a great opportunity for Vietnam Airlines to introduce new services and strengthen air connectivity between the two countries,” said Tran Tuan Nghia, Chief Representative of Vietnam Airlines in Indonesia.

Rising Demand for Indonesian Travel in 2025

Indonesia has become an increasingly important market for Vietnam’s tourism sector, with travelers drawn to Hanoi, Sapa, and Da Nang for their cultural heritage, landscapes, and cuisine. Local travel agencies at the fair echoed this sentiment, noting Vietnam’s growing appeal among Indonesian tourists.

Jeslyn Kyla of Obaja Travel commented, “Indonesian visitors are particularly impressed by Vietnam’s cool climate and diverse cuisine, making the country an attractive choice for repeat visits.”

The launch of Hanoi-Jakarta flights is expected to provide Indonesian travelers with easier access to Vietnam and encourage more Vietnamese tourists to explore Indonesia.

Vietnam Airlines Direct Flights Boost ASEAN Links

Vietnam Airlines’ presence at ASTINDO 2025 highlighted its commitment to the Indonesian market. The fair, organized by the Indonesian Travel Agents Association, featured more than 60 exhibitors, including airlines, travel agencies, hotels, resorts, and tourism boards.

As Southeast Asia’s air travel market recovers, the Hanoi–Jakarta route positions Vietnam Airlines as a vital regional connector. This expansion aligns with Vietnam’s goal of boosting tourism and trade within ASEAN. By offering direct flights, the airline seeks to meet growing demand and strengthen cultural and economic ties.
