The new airline base in Ohio will house pilots, flight attendants, and maintenance staff, all stationed at CAK. This local presence will help the airline respond more quickly to delays and staffing needs, a move expected to benefit travelers directly.

According to Breeze, the Akron–Canton crew base is the airline’s sixth, joining others in Orlando, Tampa, Provo, Charleston, and Norfolk. Breeze says CAK was selected because of its strong performance, convenient location, and untapped growth potential.

Located just minutes from Akron and Canton, the airport offers quick access and minimal congestion compared to larger hubs like Cleveland Hopkins. Breeze plans to use the base to improve schedule reliability and support future regional expansion.

How the Crew Base Will Improve the Passenger Experience

With this Breeze Airways expansion, travelers can expect:

  • More consistent service: Locally based crew reduces the risk of delays due to repositioning.
  • Support for new routes: The base lays the groundwork for adding more destinations.
  • Enhanced reliability: Crew availability directly at CAK makes operations smoother.

The airline already serves six nonstop destinations from CAK: Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Key West, Daytona Beach, Jacksonville, and Wilmington, North Carolina. As Breeze deepens its investment, more Akron-Canton flights could be on the horizon.

Breeze Airways Jobs and Regional Economic Benefits

Breeze expects to create more than 65 regional jobs for flight crew and maintenance personnel over the next few years. Many of the new employees will be based in Northeast Ohio.

In 2024, Breeze carried 262,842 passengers through CAK, according to airport data. That made it the airport’s largest carrier, accounting for about 35% of total traffic. Akron–Canton Airport, in turn, handled 759,748 passengers last year.

With the new Breeze Airways crew base, the airline sends a clear message: Akron–Canton matters. For travelers, this means better service, more jobs, and the potential for more Breeze Airways Akron flights soon.
