Mexico is positioning itself to compete with Disney and Universal as BON Luxury Theme Park prepares its debut in fall 2026, promising to reimagine the theme park experience with five-star hospitality and dramatically shorter wait times.

Grupo Vidanta, founded in 1974 by Daniel Chávez Morán, is developing what developers call the world’s first luxury theme park at VidantaWorld Nuevo Vallarta, just north of Puerto Vallarta. Among new theme parks opening in 2026, this luxury theme park Mexico venture stands out by partnering with Cirque du Soleil and leading ride manufacturers, including Vekoma, Mack Rides, and Intamin.

What Sets BON Apart From Traditional Theme Parks

BON—short for “Beauty of Nature”—will feature 23 attractions, 25 restaurants, and 16 shops across themed lands including BON Plaza, Fantasy Gardens, Empire of Light, Land of Legends, and the Cirque du Soleil Zone. However, what distinguishes this luxury amusement park in Mexico from other upcoming theme parks worldwide is its carefully controlled guest capacity.

During its first year, BON will be exclusive to guests staying at VidantaWorld Nuevo Vallarta’s approximately 3,000 upscale rooms and suites, deliberately limiting crowds to minimize wait times. While this resort-guests-only model mirrors luxury resorts in the Bahamas, it represents a groundbreaking approach for a major theme park.

“We are elevating the guest experience and extending the market beyond families with young kids to better cater to active adults, multi-generational families, and premium-minded, discerning couples with high service expectations,” said Michel Beuffe, Chief Operations Officer for VidantaWorld.

The 2,500-acre car-free destination nestled between the Sierra Madre mountains and the Pacific Ocean seamlessly integrates the theme park with championship golf courses, including Greg Norman’s Vidanta Vallarta, home of the PGA TOUR Mexico Open, award-winning spas, and beachfront access—all connected by elevated walkways and a private gondola system.

Phased Opening Beginning December 2025

The Mexico theme park opening in 2026 follows a phased rollout beginning this December. On December 1, 2025, the BON Hotel opens its doors, followed by Cirque du Soleil LÚDŌ on December 16, 2025—an innovative aquatic dinner show housed in a custom-built theater featuring a 360-degree water stage. Theatergoers will receive an exclusive early preview of select park areas months before the official opening.

“More than 50 years ago, this company was started with a dream of showcasing Mexico’s beauty and hospitality to the world,” Beuffe said. “We’re not trying to copy what others have done. We’re establishing something entirely new: the first brand to combine world-class theme park excellence with true luxury hospitality, permanent Cirque du Soleil residencies, championship golf, and breathtaking natural settings.”

After the inaugural year of serving resort guests exclusively, the park will welcome the general public. For Mexico’s tourism industry, the project represents an ambitious effort to compete with established entertainment destinations in California, Florida, and Dubai—repositioning the country as far more than just a beach getaway.
